Im not real happy with it.
Looks alright in the sreenies but.
Then again I havent got any pipes on it yet and I want to make a new smoke box texture plus fix a few others as well.
Basically at this time it was just an exercise to see if I could get it into the sim and this is considered still in development.
I managed to get the conjugating motion working properly as it does in real life. 19 separate pieces with 17 frames of animation each, I was nearly ready for the nut house by tea time last night after this.
Dunno if it will make a TA pack or freeware yet, just have to see how it turns out.

Compared to the previous shots, Its starting to look better now...........I think!
I am experimenting with some new techniques here so a lot is uncharted territory.

I did say I wasnt really happy with it.
It scales out to the D57 data sheet But us model builders know how reliable plans are dont we and not having the opportunity to go and see one close up and crawl over it with the tape measure doesnt help.

Geoff I likes UGLY!!
You must have had one hell of a time building the S. Very interesting modelling complicated models from dodgy black and white photos that don't tell you half of what you need to know.

That's one ok very scruffy looking steamer Russ! Looking forward to seeing the finished model
Hi Russ,
This month's issue of Australian Raiway History includes an article on the 57's and has some excellent photos. I can send some to you if you cannot get the magazine.
In comparing your model to the photos, I see two things that stand out:- the steam supply pipe on the 57 exits the boiler at about 3 o'clock - you have it down at close to 5 o'clock. Secondly, the sand dome comes out almost to the hand rail whereas yours is much smaller. These might make a difference. The sand dome on the SAR 720's is huge and I really had to work on getting it right. When I did, it really changed the look of the loco.
Cheers
Allan
