Not sure if this may be of interest or not, but anyhow my early attempts at depicting a realistic Australian environment in MSTS were a disaster. My Barossa and midnorth route is actually a 2006 restart of what was my first ever attempt at a route dating from 2004.

This shot dates from 2005 when the project had none of the following. 0 degree points, crossover pieces, curve transitions, interactive objects, prototypically setup signals, peppercorn textures, etc.

Angaston yard

Stockport yard in 2006. Not one South Australian tree and a less than average track texture. This was when my strategy was to do finish the route in bits and pieces rather than finishing one place off and moving on. I never detracted from this habit for ages.

A view of Nuriootpa yard. As you can see, all the tree shapes are identical and placed as stand alone objects. A habit I still need to address but to a lesser degree

Anyhow I'm not at all ashamed of these shots. After all they were a starting point 8)
