I'll Download the HUB sets Later tonight, and Make a Consist Using Team-ALCO's 3801 since I don't have Joseph's 3801 anymore.

Interestingly enough, the original Spirit consist isn't as easy to drive as one might think.

Coming out of Spencer Street with 500+ tons, it is a challenge to keep to the original timetable on the grades out of Mebourne. It certainly isn't a case of opening the regulator right up and letting the loco do all the work.

It's a challenge, and a lot of fun.

Cheers,
Matt

The Spirit is the first trainset I thought should be modelled when I found out there were Aussie addons for MSTS.
As far as the speed challenge goes I must find Mad Mikes "Hoam" Hell of a machine and see how fast it is.

I am exited now the release has occured. :D :D :D :D :D
Should be good.

No - not quite right, you missed my point - what I really meant was for you to give your new 'Spirit' a run down the Blue Mountains (when you get it).

You were talking about a World record attempt with the 'Spirit' - I was basically suggesting your attempt should be compared with a 38 and HUB set, on the same route.

A case of my NSWGR loco is better than your VR loco - friendly inter-state rivalry !!! (cough !!! coming from someone who abandoned NSW some 25 years ago for the warmer climes up North !!!)

Sorry, My bad Brian.
Once I buy it and It's in my mailbox. I'll keep you up to date on it, I could've cheated and use LNER 4468 Mallard, but I reckon using a World's fastest steam loco for steam contraction would be unfair.

No worries,

Josh, I really think you've been watching FAR TOO MUCH of the Star Wars movies - shades of the Great Pod Race around the valley floors in Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace !!!

I think the rules rule out Russells supped up tractor and the jet train.

The Hoam sighted during secret testing near Dubbo.

Hehe, I got nothing against that...

Back on a serious note, picked up a copy of the SOP and the H/X Class packs off Ian at the TeamAlco stand yesterday at Caufield (managed to scab $70 off Dad, haha, was spent well though ;) ). Have taken them all for a spin, and lets just say I'm one very happy customer :D Will get some screenshots up when I can.

Now to try and get some more money to get the N/700 pack! :P

This is more of a request than anything - would the good TA people ever consider a reskin of 3830 into Olive Green and 3813 into NSWGR Green, in order to run an accurate '1962 Delivery Run' consist?

That's half true, Brian. But I'd favour watching Terminators 1, 2 and 3 mostly.
Take note: better not watch it too much on the same day, otherwise It'll result going psycho
Here's picture proof

Speaking of "Spirit of progress" on a topic point of view, I've made the purchase by fax today, Yuri had e-mailed me and now has posted my SOP pack today. So next week, I'm hoping to set that speed record!

I got My copy of the Spirit Set this morning in the mail.
I done the Speed record run Brian Challenged me to do on the Blue Mountains Route.

I got pretty close, But Sadly didn't beat it. I only reached at the top speed of 162mph, that's still not bad but couldn't reached up to 169mph :(

Well, Seems Brian Bere Streeter is the winner of the speed record run.
Congratuations. :)

Well, that's quite a run - 162 mph is certainly not to be sneezed at - I reckon that's a pretty fair effort - well done anyway !!!

Just to see if it can be done, maybe you could try a run with the HUB set and T-A's 3801, like you originally intended - it would be interesting to compare the top speeds of Joseph's original 38 with the T-A 38.

I also saw a mention in one of the earlier posts about having a go with the LNER Mallard (that is the MSTS version of the World Record holder), but if that was the case, to make it fair, Mallard should be run against one of the LMS streamlined Coronation class (there are 3 streamlined Coronations available from the UKTS downloads).

In my screenshot shown earlier, 3801 and HUB set had just come off the bottom of the main Blue Mountains downhill section and was starting to flatten out towards Emu Plains and Penrith, hence the predicted speed of only 126 mph, which just quite co-incidentally is equal to the real Mallard World Record speed run. I did that speed run back in 2003, but I'm unable to reproduce it any more, as I don't have that version of Blue Mountains any more, only the modified Steam Era version that 'should' be released sometime soon !!! PS - it went to the 'publishers' well over six months ago !!!

Anyway, a rather good effort !!!

Regards, Brian

Speaking of World Record holders, I saw on UKtrainsim.com that there's a payware release called "Record holders of Steam"

When I had a peek at the info on it, My eyes magnetised on the A4 Streamliners. They'd looked very amazing.

Someone on Youtube reply to me it also comes with the route that the Mallard ran in 1938 to haul the speed record run on it.

Despice I'm not a British steam fan, But I absolutely adore all The British A4s as I got a big interest on Streamlined Steam locos.

I'm thinking of getting that pack sometime during Christmas. I love how they'd modelled the A4's and of course the Dutch/LMS streamliners :D

Here's the info about that pack Here
