So am I geoff.
As far as I know nobody has actually built a modern AU route, (I could be wrong)
I am a little bit more excited about the rolling stock package that will go with it.
Here is a in progress shot of the 2300 class.
It also makes a good basis for the 21,22, and 2400 classes.
I thought that it would be similar to an X class but its more like a T class on steroids due to the skinny loading gauge!
One thing I would really like to have a go at is an Electric Tilt, But there is very little plan data available for it.
That nose on the thing would be a pain as well.
But it would be nice.....wouldnt it!
Image edited for latest progress.

T class on steroids , You always get away with some intelligent plots, Don't you Russell?

sounds like a big challenge than tug 'o' war! When you'd said that Making the nose would be a pain. Only thing it would be a pain is derailing it on a first trial test run.
I would hate to see that happened like it did in real-life on the news and on the Railway Digest, Lets hope it doesnt fall to pieces in MSTS.

Russell, went for a jaunt on the CityTrain yesterday, crossed the river and saw a 23 at Bowen Hills and another on a long goods near Park Road. Russ the work on your route looks fabulous, the signature river bridges look great. All very Brisbane The work on your 23 looks great too. Looking forward to experiencing it all when you finish all the hard time consuming work. And thats from a gringo who's been stuck here for several weeks!
Rusell you've done some excellent work with your 2300 class.
If you don't mind me asking is there any chance that you could include the busway in your scenery at South Brisbane? Maybe you could place a couple of stationary Brisbane buses on it and maybe on the Victoria bridge. I just think that it would add to the effect of the route.

Tonight the hardest part is out of the way.
I managed to get the Junction in at Bowen hills with the ferny grove flyover in.
As you can see there is no shortage of triangles for reversing and a complete loop via the hole in the wall at Bowen hills is possible as due to the complexity of the track the paths don't conflict with one another.
All this without a piece of Dynamic track. As route builders Know that is a real effort.

Very impressive, Russell !!!
That track plan is very interesting - a little known fact - there is a little bit of me in that track plan !!! I'm really looking forward to seeing your QR MSTS route come to fruition.
Back in the early to mid-90's I was working as an electrical consulting engineer, not only doing electrical building services design, but contract project management as well. For a couple of years, I worked for Maunsell Parsons Brinckerhoff at Toowong. If anyone knows the world of consulting engineers, Maunsell was a very large consulting firm that originally started in the UK, but had offices in various parts of the world, especially in Australia. Parsons Brinckerhoff is a large USA firm and is probably one of the world's foremost leaders in rail engineering.
Mausell Parsons Brinckerhoff was formed in Australia as a consortium between Maunsell and Parsons Brinckerhoff, locally known as Maunsell PB.
One of MPB's primary disciplines was heavy rail engineering. I used to work directly for one of MPB's Directors in Brisbane, and we were engaged on a number of major projects for Queensland Rail and National Rail.
The major project I was involved with, was the project scheduling of the QR Quadruplication Project - the quadrupling of the existing double track section from Roma Street, through Central, Brunswick Street to Bowen Hills, including the remodelling of most of the track and platforms at Roma Street.
The QR Quad Project originally started out with QR themselves trying to do the work as separate contracts, but with their parallel involvement with the building of the Gold Coast line, did not have the internal capacity to do it themselves, and so 'farmed out' the project management work to MPB.
The actual project itself comprised a series of 65 separate and individual contracts over a three and and a half year construction period for over $142M construction costs.
My director would do most of the direct client liason, and hand me lots of information, which I then programmed into Microsoft project, dovetailing all the 65 contracts together into one co-ordinated major project. To say that that was an interesting job, would be an understatement.
Other rail projects that I provided MS Project Management for, were the One-Spot Locomotive and Wagon Service Depot at Stuart, near Townsville, involvement with the Environmental Planning Study for the extension of the Standard Gauge line from Yerrongpilly to the Port of Brisbane, and the development of the new large Inter-modal Container Terminal at Acacia Ridge for National Rail. This last project also, entailed me doing all the electrical design for the buildings and site services, including the floodlighting design for the new extended yard.
All in all, it was an interesting period of my life, and only ended when I made a decision to move into Computer Consulting and Training as an alternative career.
But, this is not the only part of my life that was associated with rail engineering. Back in the mid to late 70's I spent three years working for Comeng at Granville as an electrical design draftsman, and did the electrical 'production engineering' design drawings for the 'second-series' Double-deck Suburban cars (the S-sets), the 'second-series' Double-deck Interurban cars (the V-sets), the electrical design drawings for the Class 80 diesel-electric locomotives and the driver cab electrical design drawings for the Class 85 electric locomotives. It was at this time Comeng and I had a disagreement over work/life priorities, and I left Comeng to go back into the mainstream work of electrical building services consulting again.
So, over my lifetime, I've had various stints in the world of Rail Transportation.
So this will probably explain my deep interest in all things MSTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Russell if you don't mind me suggesting this, regarding the section between South Brisbane and Roma Street is there chance that the Suncorp clock and the XXXX brewery could be uincluded? Or would there be copyright issues? Maybe fictional brandnames could be used instead.
I just think that they're both icons of Brisbane. When I arrive in Brisbane on the XPT just before dawn I always look out for the Suncorp clock which I can even see when I go down to New Farm.
i cant wait for this route to come out, there really is very little QR stuff for msts and it will seem almost surreal to drive an SMU through my home station.
