I don't know if you plan on photo skinning these or drawing them, but you may want to wait a bit before spending anytime on these.

I've already mentioned this run with an 86 Class on the old Newcastle Flyer. But the 86 Class on this train gave me the best rail experience I have ever had.
In 1987 the Flyer was delayed at Fassifern for 1 hour and the spirited running of the 86 made up about half an hour into Sydney.

Mate, I'm a bit lost with what you are trying to point out here. Please use this thread at Railpage http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11347038-s15.htm to see some screen shots and reply too

The containers in the screens.

They shouldn't be to far away from release.

I was offering the container skins for use once they are released, but if you want to draw them all, thats fine by me.

Is this how the containers will be delivered?

Image

If you download bbc_cont.zip from trainsim.com it includes a PSP repainters kit for 20ft and 40ft containers and TSM files to make them.

The wagon is freelance without buffers.

You can also copy and paste your repaint onto other container textures.

Hi Steve,

I honestly feel terrible mate, sorry for the misunderstanding
Here's what my containers will look like when I complete them all
Notice the lights at the end of both types, these are only going on the
rear of empty NQAY wagons and they work real well in the sim :D

Most Excellent Ian.
You put a smile on my face with that screenie.

Hi Steve Its just that I misunderstood the message as it was a bit open ended.
I thought I was looking for AU wagons in the shots.
My mistake.
Phil wait and go with the photo reskins when they are available.
Cheers Russ

Phil,

A couple of points about NQAY's and the containers.

The NQAY's are high speed wagons, and have 2CM type bogies fitted, the style that has the droop in the middle of the frame, such as the type on Savy's water gins. Your type would be an NQAX, or an 80 k runner. It looks like you've lost the alpha around the bogie side frames in the shots as well.

Containers: The Patrick containers like you show are actually 53 footers and are really only loaded onto the artic spines. There actually aren't any 50 foot containers, though there is a 48 footer which iirc Linfox used ( would have to check my shots ). The NQAY/NQAX is really only used for 20 and 40 footers.

I have put a couple of shots of the Patrick 53 footers on my web site for you to see. If you want to square them up and use them for the side skins, i can arrange larger copies, but not sure if i have useable end shots. I certainly have shots showing the ends, which would then allow another similar to be used and adjusted as needed.

Some more pics of some containers i have been working on using a shape from Rowie can be seen at: EDIT Link removed

I don't think you have to join to view the forum, some one let me know if you do.

Hope this info helps.

Steve

Hi Steve,

The screen shots of my NQAY wagons are from Train Sim Modeler view so it doesn't show up the alpha channel on the bogies for some reason :? I will be modelling the NQAY bogies soon using Gavin Mclaughlan's NQAY textures :) The body I done a little different to Gavin's NQAY's so that there isn't any mix ups or confusion 8)

Here is the main body frame in TSM view
Image

I honestly had no idea about the 53ft container mate :D , I only knew about the 20 and 40 foot containers, the 50ft container was a fair guess and very close  but since I now know that the NQAY wagons doesn't haul 53ft containers I won't have to use them 8) Would it be possable if I could get the photos of Patrick, Maersk, China Shipping (Green version), "K-Line", and Linfox of the sides and ends please mate? Only if possible. As for the tops I can work these out. I like your containers to mate, they look great :D

Hi Ian,

Your AMW container texturing looks terrific mate :D any chance of seeing these beauties released?

Cheers,
Best Regards, Phil 8)

Hi Steve,

I forgot to mention in my post above, would you like to have either a single or double flashing light on the rear of your wagons mate?
I be happy to give you my TSM files of these rear flashing lights :)

Cheers,
Best Regards, Phil

You can pimp it out with lights till it looks like a Jap Rice burner if you want....it won't worry me, i don't run Aussie MSTS stuff anymore. :)

I think you'll find they are actually Michael Thompson's. He made the initial shape, and Gavin and myself made the later changes to it. If you model the 2CM bogie for it, I'm sure iIcould find a shot of it for you to use of my own.

You can use the skins I've made once they get released, but they won't be given to anyone else to use before then though. With the ones I've made, the roofs have all been done. I can send the full size images of the Patrick and LInfox, they should keep you amused for the time being.

I have also done a 48 ft white CSX, which can be the roof for a 48 ft Linfox, and a 53 ft Blue CSX, which can be the roof for a 53 ft Patrick i guess.

Do you know how to square up photo's though ?

Hi Steve,

It looks like I owe you an apology mate, I read the AUnswNQAY_conts readme file as I am using these textures and just realised that the textures are done by you  Sorry about that mate

I will PM you my email, just after this post so you can email me the Patrick and Linfox photos, I know how to square off the containers
Cheers,

OK just rang shunters.
We run 20 and 40 ft iso boxes.
Non Iso 20 ft x 10 high, 48ft boxes and taut liners, 48 ft plus a refrig unit that would have to be 18 inches in depth, plus 21ft 3 inch open fold down flats.
They didnt know of any 53 footers but thats not to say they dont use them in AU.
Just not on our 3 packs

The 10ft they would be referring to is actually 9 ft 6 inches. And the smaller height is 8 foot 6 inches. AFAIK our local types use the same standard heights as the shipping boxes. But it seems that 9 foot 6 is almost (if not) non existent in shipping boxes in 20 footers.

Some of the containers in the TA Modern Freight wagon pack are 53 footers....the Auto Trans springs to mind.

Just to confuse things, there are also some local 30 foot boxes that seem to run on the QR MB/BM services. I recall seeing an article on them in the early 90's in V/Line News saying they were being used to carry plastic pallets between Wodonga and Melbourne on the old 9691/9692 Superfreighter to Bandiana.

Phil: I see you've also added the 2CM's in that pic aswell.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the container photos mate, I greatly appreciate your help :D I used the 2CM's because my NQAY wagons didn't look right with the bogies I had on it, so I took your advice :)
Thanks again mate :)

Cheers,
Best Regards, Phil
