A good start is to obtain Micheal Vones guide to route building.
Look for it here.
http://www.abacuspub.com/default_ts.html
It is a step by step guide.

There are lots but none as comprehensive as this.
Without this Route editor is a painful torture process until you master the steep learning curve and even then it still bites from time to time.

Try the Tutorials on Steam4me
http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... index.html
Look for route design and construction.

Try Running your desktop in 16bit color quality.
Some Graphics cards cause MSTS to play up whilst in RE or RGE.
I know mine does. Asus Nvidea 9800GTX 750 mb DDR3.
I do all my work in 16 bit and turn it back only when I test or play.

Thats probably in the game.
Mind you the lowest I have seen framerates drop with this card is 43 FPS.
Runs Kurban at this.

Its when you select terrain to smooth it in RE and a few other things as well that RE is prone to quit.
I suspect RGE has hiccups with 32 bit as well as the tiles dont zoom properly in 32 bit.

I bought this card to Run Chrysis and COD4 with everything maxxed out and I can put up with a few display changes to work in msts.

I wish I could try this route out,
the down side of it is the framerate only goes as maximum as 15 FPS to 20 FPS . X-P

I blame it on Albury Computers for putting a 512MB ram instead of the original 2.5GB ram i original had when i got this computer.

I'll get the route when i get more ram onto my PC

Ok exactly at what step is it locking up.
Use Spell check and be precise with your answer as we cannot read minds.

You might not have created a start tile.

Go back into RGE.
Open the route.
Open the quadtree.
Left click on a tile that you want to be the start tile.
Now right click select create new start tile or something like that then save.

It's in the Train Simulator Editors and Tools program, under Cab Editor.
