I am endeavouring to attempt to create my first activities but after I try to place a traffic train at the starting place E&D shuts down before I can save it. Can anyone help with this annoying problem?

Hi B G O,
You will need to give us a LOT more information before we can hope to answer you.
Route name.
Full Consist details.
Where your Start Point is and the direction of travel.
In other words let us see if we can recreate the scenario (in MSTS)
Cheers
Sarfan

It does'nt matter which route I try what consist I use. I cannot even create a start point as it will not zoom down to the start point let alone which direction I to use.

It could be a case of setting display to 16 bit color for RE operation.
Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Rob

The Nvidia bug strikes again.

As above set your desktop to 16 bit try and report back.

Hi Shrek dont Shout!

Just a heads up everyone with an Nvidea card.
Even when working in RE its a good Idea to switch back to 16 bit.
I actually nearly threw out the North east main because when I selected a section of ground to use the flatten command RE would quit and ring home.
I was at my wits end I thought the route was a dud and I had done something wrong.

Then I wrote a few activities to test paths in 16 bit and forgot to change it back then did some more work in RE and the flatten command now worked.
MMMM went back to 32 bit tried again instant crash.
Now I just leave my PC in 16 bit unless I want to Run MSTS which isnt all that often as I build not play or when I play silent hunter 3 or COD4.

Personally I prefer Nvidea over ATI its just a question of choice and if it means that I have to switch to 16 bit to use RE or the act ED so be it.
Its not really that hard to switch back or forward.

Russell,

Yes I have to agree with you I much prefer nvidia compared to what I had before which was a raedon card. My biggest problam at the moment is getting a decent driver for it. I think I have found one but time will tell. Kept getting a blue screen.

Take care

Hi Guys,
Having had nVidia for a number of years and then come up against (torn my hair out for many months) the nVidia rendering problems, I changed to ATI 3750 and more recently to a 4750 (10 months ago) and they are great. Quick, responsive, no rendering problems, everything runs at 32 bit (1680 x 1050), so I guess its like one guy likes Ford and another likes Holden - and they are both right. Both of these ATI cards are now getting a bit long in the tooth, but I still get very good frame rates even in the most challenging MSTS routes with everything maxed out, so why would I change?
Cheers
Allan

Shrek,
Go to the nVidia site and download the current driver from there. This should provide you with the best driver for your card. Make sure that you select the correct driver that is specifically for both your card and your Operating System.
Cheers

I am running a 9800GTX-2 -750 mb DDr 3 and all that and had rendering issues in TSM until this driver "175.16_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe" Its stable runs well renders TSM great and Runs Crysis at 50 to 60 frames all maxxed out which is a good effort as most people cant run this game in medium without stuttering.
Not so Keen on ATI cards as have 2 non working in the shed with darkened CBs as they couldnt take the heat!
