Hi mate
I heard that you can buy a book that is about Passenger carriage fleets of NSWGR, Has all the info, Drawing diagrams and measurenets.

I've create a NSWGR N-type carriage sets, in Indian Red, Tuscan & Russett, Red Cross Livery, and a special one of the Non Profit organistaion of 3801 Limited livery, and of Course the Red and Cream livery one that Brian - Bere Streeter who reskined that one which is very good.

So yeah, Save up some good money to get that book, I'm gonna be getting it for when i do a proper fixed version of my N-types, by after that I'm gonna be doing MFS and MBR cars and also do my version of NSWGR FS,BS cars :D

My advise start simple.
Like an ABV van.

If you can get this going then progress on to something hard like the RUB.

You will need Train Sim Modeler to complete the above tutorial. It is available at http://www.trainsimulatorworld.com/tsm/tsmmain.htm.
You will also need a graphics application such as Paint Shop Pro or windows "Paint" to do the graphics.

Train Sim Modeler is the easiest to use. There is also Gmax with Train sim Gamepack http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax and http://www.microsoft.com/games/trainsimulator/downloads.aspx.
You can also try 3D Canvas at http://www.amabilis.com/downloads.htm
. It also has a plug in available.

Have a look at this:

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... ax_00.html

Even though it is in Gmax rather than TSM and the coach is a British prototype, the basic construction principles remain the same.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Brian

The following link will give you an overview of the four different 3D modelling programs that you can use to create models for MSTS.
