The DDE/D4 tank locomotives were introduced in 1908, being a tank version of the DD class. They had sufficient range to operate the longest suburban services and sufficient power to deal with the steeper grades of the outer eastern suburbs for all you steam loco purists.

Very nice little locos these, just suited to those jobs where a full mainline locomotive just doesnt fit the bill and should look brilliant with 3 or 4 vintage cars or BCPLs in tow or shunting those wagons around the yard.

The VR as well as the NSWGR had for a while appreciated the qualities found in 4-4-0 locomotives for passenger work and express mainline service.
All together 9 different classes of 4-4-0 locomotive designs were to be used by the VR in steam history.
The first New “A” pattern engine was built by Kitson and the rest were built by the Phoenix Foundry at Ballarat, 15 in all between 1889 and 1891.
At first they were used on the main lines but after relaying of the secondary lines with heavier rail they could be found just about everywhere.
One of their most important duties was running the Sydney and Melbourne expresses in relay between Melbourne and Albury.
From 1901 they were fitted with high pressure boilers which increased their tractive effort by over 3000lbs.
The first 4 were scrapped in 1924 and by 1925 they all had gone.

To use these locos YOU MUST have installed Stuart Williamsons 2 Cylinder Sound Set - V1.1, UK Whistles Pack - V1.0 and Darwin Smiths HR Passenger Tank cab [HRPTCab.zip] installed as per instructions.
all 3 are available at UK trainsim.

1886 Victorian railways X-Class 0-6-0

Fifteen of these locomotives were built by the Phoenix foundry in Ballarat and were basically an enlarged version of the R class bulldogs introduced in 1879.
They were nicknamed Jumbos because of their great size. They were designed as a freight locomotive but on some occasions were used on passenger trains such as specials, race trains and when a passenger locomotive wasn’t available.
Out of fifteen locomotives in this class 8 were involved in accidents some 15 in total. No 365 managed to be the star with 3 accidents to its record.
They were all withdrawn by 1920.

there is a small bug in the eng file you have to release the locomotive brake before trying to move this doesnt show in the HUD.
You will need to download and install the 2 cylinder sound set available from UKtrainsim or here http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/sounds.html at steam4me..

Victorian Railways Z class 0-6-0
This was the first steam locomotive I ever built. Very Happy
The Z is also known as 'Polly', and was the first locomotive built at Newport workshops. It was converted from 0-6-0T to 0-6-0 Crane Tank in 1903 for use at North Melbourne loco depot, where it was known as No. 3 Crane. It was written off by VR in June 1978 but was retained for preservation. It was reconverted to its original 0-6-0T form in 1983.

The V is now available "Version 2".
Updated version installer to fix the corrupt FA shape file on 513 and 523.
I hope you all enjoy and I would like to see some Screenies in the screenie section of these in use on your routes.
Read the read me pdf by clicking the link at the end of the install or navigate to the V class folder in your trainset and look for the PDF file on how to use these locomotives as there are 2 varients, a Auto fireman locomotive and a Manual fireman locomotive.
Also contains information on the locos, sounds to use and lots more.

The new V2 installer adresses this problem if you have the old version and do not wish to install the new version apply this patch!

I have noticed that my 2 candadian red simples 513 and 523 have a corrupt FA shape that causes the freight animation on these 2 models not to appear and msts quitting problems.
As I have recieved no feedback I have to assume its just my setup.

Here is a link to a new FA shape file if you find problems with these two locos.
Just extract the shape file from the Zip and overwrite the original shape in the V class folder.
If the Vs work ok for you there is no need to do this.
