I've just discovered the screenshots of the 620 class locomotive and love them.
I was wondering if they are available for download as yet and if so what the link would be.
I'd love to add those to the existing rolling stock for South Australia. I'm also keen on further word about Alan's Narrow Gauge Project as I love his Adelaide Hills & SE Route.
Hi Reinstall,
There are 6 x 620's finished and waiting for release simultaneously with ARG706's superb Adelaide, Mid North and Barossa route. The link with this route is that the 620's ran all lines on a very regular basis. There will also be a release of some S class locos which also ran this route on a regular basis until bumped by the 620's. The S class also saw service on the Overland (double headed) between Murray Bridge and Serviceton until Commissioner Webb's Big Steam bumped them off. There are a small number of specialised SAR rolling stock that are awaiting release as well.
I am currently putting genuine sound to the SAR 400 class garratts courtesy of jm1941 and 409. This will finish them off and I will then reskin several more. I have almost finished the carriage section of the Coffee Pot, with the loco still to go. Riding 1st class will be cool - the carriage is quite well detailed, so it will be a toss up whether you are driver or passenger.
The SAR Northern Narrow Gauge route has now reached Stirling North via the Pichie Richie Pass, but little has been done lately while I have turned my attention to some much needed rolling stock and locos.
Cheers
Allan
Hi Alan
Thanks for the quick reply.
When the 620's and the other routes are released, will that be through Steam4me or through this forum and is there any idea of an approximate release date.
I'm also experiencing a minor issue with your Adelaide, Hills and SE route, in as much as, at certain times the scenery will pause for about a second and then continue, almost like it is loading more data, is there any way around this or is this normal.
I running Windows XP Pro, 3GB single core processor, 4GB ram and I've just installed an ASUS 9800GT video card with 512MB video ram.
Thanks for any help that you can offer.

Can you replicate the pausing? Next time it happens look at the hard drive activity LED. If it’s flashing then data is being read from the drive.
If there is no drive activity then it could be a third party program running in the background. If you have anti virus software running on your pc exclude the Train Simulator folder from scanning by the real time monitor and this should speed up file read speed. Also stop any unnecessary background applications. The following are some options to try.

Hi Ian
It is anticipated the Midnorth and Barossa route will be released through steam4me in the not too distant future. By this time the 620s would be 100% ready to roll, and the download link able to be activated simultaneously
Stuttering will often occur when a township or major area in an MSTS route is loaded. There are ways to smoothen out the loading process by editing the distance shapes are loaded at, but it's not as easy as it sounds. It is quite a normal deficiency of MSTS
620, 621, 622, 623, 624, 626, 629. S131. S135, S136, 409 ,40? and 40?, T185, T251, T254, Y87, Y97, Z191, Z196, Fageol Railcar, Coffee Pot. Hopefully there will be more but that's it for now. Oh, 600 class has been started and 720 are still in my dreams.
On the Adelaide, Hills and South East route, you will experience some brief stuttering when you approach Goodwood on the south line, Adelaide Yard, and Port Adelaide (from any direction) - these tiles are fully loaded and/or have some large, high poly items and take a little while to load. If you have problems anywhere else, it may warrant some investigation -inti-virus too intrusive etc.
Marek, your RAMDisk sounds ve e e r r yy interesting.

Michael,
Is this the technique where you sink some of the high polygon/texture items into the ground in the tile/s immediately prior to arriving at the high density tile/s? This way some of the objects/textures are already preloaded into memory and therefore do not have to re-read when the high density tile is hit.

Allan,
I was sure it must have been done before and a search at train-sim.com forums found that Ottodad has been there done that with positive results.
Hi Allan
I was just wondering if there is any update on the release date of the 620s as I am keen to run them in activities between Adelaide & Victor Harbor, similar to what was done in the past by ARHS.
The biggest pause that I've noticed is when heading south on the Hills line heading towards Goodwood Station around Keswick and the Show Grounds, I was wondering whether it had something to do with the amount of detail in the scenery.
Thankyou for your help in identifying the problem.
Mr SuperHeatedSteam,
This little Vegemite is Not 'Appy. The ink was hardly dry on your wish that it was better that my computer failed than yours when my computer failed!
Like I sed "Not 'appy Jan"
Whilst good backups have seen me lose nothing more than a heap of time, it has been a very frustrating week or so. Anyway, I appear to be back in business, but still need to image the new hard drive before I will feel safe again.
The 620's are ready for release (discussed with Yuri yesterday) and will come simultaneously with ARG706's Adelaide, Mid North and Barossa route which is just having Activities built and final signal testing. I hope to have the S class released as well but the week I have lost has not been helpful.
The Goodwood tile has the south line, the Marino line as well as the Glenelg tram line on it - guess why it stutters a bit, heh, heh.
Sheesh, wot you on about, Willis. 'ere's me hounded by requests for the release of my stuff, and my cornpooter stuffed up by my mate-in-da-west an' I gets corled a norty norty boy. Wodded I do, huh, huh, wodd I do?.
Cheers
Hi Allan,
Have the 620 Class locomotives and the Mid North & the Barossa routes been released as yet and if so, is it possible to get the download link.
If not, is there any idea when they will be.
